Job Description

Join a dynamic surgical short stay/observation unit in Mount Pleasant, SC, offering a unique opportunity to provide expert nursing care in a specialized, fast-paced environment. This contract position is ideal for RN professionals with experience or interest in PACU and surgical observation settings, working primarily night shifts with a balanced, four-day schedule and no weekend or holiday obligations.

Qualifications:

  • Current SC or Multi-State Compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience preferred (first-timers considered)
  • BLS and ACLS certification mandatory
  • Experience in surgical PACU or observation units highly desirable
  • Ability to float within scope to similar units when needed

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care in a six-bay, 23-hour observation surgical unit
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia teams, and OR nurses to ensure patient safety and optimize recovery
  • Manage a patient ratio of up to 1:6, with typical expected ratio of 1:3
  • Adapt to a staffing model involving RNs and patient care technicians for teamwork and efficient care
  • Maintain security protocols alongside building security, especially during overnight shifts

Schedule:

  • Night shifts: 6:00 PM 6:30 AM
  • Monday through Thursday; no Fridays, weekends, or holiday shifts required
