A nursing opportunity in Sitka, AK offers a dynamic role supporting patients of all ages within a well-established medical center serving Southeast Alaska. This contract position requires a licensed Registered Nurse who exercises professional knowledge and independent clinical judgment to deliver comprehensive nursing care, ensuring patient safety and adherence to established standards.

Key responsibilities include coordinating and performing a variety of nursing procedures, supervising CNA/Tech staff, maintaining patient care documentation, and collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Qualifications and Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN, ADN, or Diploma)
• Current full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska license must be obtained prior to start or active for agency staff)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months; Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred for Emergency Department nurses
• Ability to make independent nursing decisions and handle emergency situations calmly
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse patients, families, and healthcare teams
• Physical ability to move intermittently, lift up to 50 lbs., and cope with the emotional demands of nursing
• Acute care or long-term care experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities:

• Deliver total nursing care and supervision during shifts, ensuring proper delegation and patient safety
• Develop, implement, and interpret nursing policies and care plans in coordination with leadership
• Maintain thorough and accurate nursing documentation including verbal and electronic orders
• Participate in training and professional development activities
• Ensure compliance with infection control standards and emergency protocols
