A critical role is available for a Registered Nurse specializing in Operating Room care at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Chicago, IL. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced RN with a strong background in acute care and specialized surgical procedures. The position requires dedication to diverse surgical disciplines and adaptability within a dynamic hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced operating room environment
- Collaborate effectively during surgeries including orthopedic trauma, vascular, urology, and general surgery cases
- Float as needed within the facilitys departments to support varying surgical demands
- Maintain meticulous documentation using electronic charting systems
- Participate in on-call rotation, fulfilling shift coverage on weekends as scheduled
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience in operating room nursing
- Proven skills in both scrub and circulate roles
- Experience in Level 1 Trauma Center environment strongly preferred
- Expertise in Orthopedics, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery required; Neurosurgery, Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, and Gynecology are advantageous
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to work night shifts (20:30 - 07:00) with a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week
- Must reside within 75 miles of the facility; local candidates preferred
