Job Description

A specialized opportunity is available for a Respiratory Therapist focused in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to support critical care delivery in a Level 2 Trauma Center. This role involves providing expert respiratory care, performing thorough patient assessments, and collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for neonates requiring respiratory therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory treatments tailored to NICU patients.
  • Perform detailed patient evaluations, document assessments, and communicate significant changes in condition to the healthcare team.
  • Provide essential education and emotional support to infants' families, aligning with patient and family needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including medication charting, incident reports, and equipment maintenance records.
  • Handle the preparation, cleaning, and maintenance of respiratory equipment according to protocols.
  • Safely transport infants to and from referral centers while delivering high quality, critical care.
  • Participate in ongoing certification and training programs essential to NICU respiratory therapy practice.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current Respiratory Therapist licensure from the applicable state board.
  • Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) prior to starting.
  • Minimum two years of experience specifically in NICU respiratory therapy.
  • Recent travel experience with at least three completed assignments preferred.
  • Ability to provide high-level care in a trauma center environment.
