Step into a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional care in a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry unit within a large, accredited healthcare setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to deliver skilled nursing support to a diverse patient population, including post/pre cardiac and step-down ICU patients. The role is well-supported and ideal for clinicians passionate about med-surg and telemetry nursing.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
- 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle
- No on-call requirements
- Holiday coverage: one shift per major holiday
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years recent MedSurg/Tele RN experience
- BLS and BCR certification (prior to onboarding)
- ACLS and med-surg certification are a plus
- Comfort with EPIC charting, Alaris IV pumps, and electronic monitoring
- Experience with trach care, chest tubes, IV/phlebotomy, cardiac and telemetry monitoring, wound care, and patient education
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage patient loads with a ratio of 1:4-6, collaborating closely with CNAs and interdisciplinary partners
- Care for complex diagnoses, including CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis, and related conditions
- Initiate IVs, handle central line care, and perform timely medication administration
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry equipment
- Oversee discharge planning and educate patients on renal and fluid management
- Float across all med-surg telemetry units as needed
- Document meticulously using EPIC EMR
