Job Description

A healthcare professional is needed to provide comprehensive nursing care focused on orthopedic and medical/surgical patients in a dynamic clinical setting. This contract role requires a skilled RN with the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care according to established protocols and individualized needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough patient assessments upon admission and every shift, focusing on orthopedic and medical/surgical populations
  • Develop, modify, and implement detailed nursing care plans based on patient and family needs
  • Educate patients on wound care, mobility techniques, medication management, and self-care to promote recovery and independence
  • Coordinate care with physicians, surgeons, and healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare support staff
  • Set up and manage orthopedic traction devices and surgical traction as required for mobility and wound management
  • Handle advanced wound care appliances including wound vacs, drains, and other urological devices
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation to support integrated healthcare delivery
  • Prioritize patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents promptly
  • Actively participate in ongoing learning and contribute constructive feedback to support team development

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with medical-surgical and orthopedic nursing experience preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and proficiency in patient education and care coordination
  • Ability to operate and manage specialized orthopedic devices and advanced wound care equipment
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach to patient care and team interaction
  • Commitment to maintaining competency through continuous education and adherence to standards
