Job Description

Providing compassionate, expert care to oncology patients requires specialized skills and a commitment to quality nursing. This contract opportunity in Lexington, NC invites Registered Nurses with oncology experience to support a respected cancer center within a Level 1 Trauma Designated academic medical center. Focus on delivering care to hematology, gynecologic, and surgical oncology patients in a well-established 20-bed unit.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year oncology nursing experience preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) credential a strong plus
  • Proficient in venipuncture, IV insertion, and central line care
  • Skilled in wound care, infection prevention, managing nausea/vomiting/mucositis
  • Ability to monitor lab values and safely transfuse blood products

Responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients with varying diagnoses
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on patient care plans and interventions
  • Perform intricate procedures, including central line maintenance and transfusions
  • Monitor patient conditions, manage symptoms, and educate patients and families
  • Utilize electronic medical records (Epic) and technology to document and support care delivery

Schedule and Shift Details:

  • Contract role with an expected 13-week duration
  • Day (6:30 AM 7:00 PM) or night shifts (6:30 PM 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend, holiday coverage requested at 75%
  • Orientation included with departmental onboarding
