An opportunity is available for an experienced professional to provide high-quality nursing care within a busy and supportive medical-surgical/telemetry unit at a large, accredited teaching hospital. This fast-paced environment serves a diverse patient population, including those with stroke, brain injuries, post-operative needs, and a range of acute or chronic conditions. Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00a7:00p or 7:00p7:00a
- Weekend rotation: 56 shifts within a 6-week schedule
- No on-call; expectation to work select holidays
Qualifications:
- Active RN license and BLS required; Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) required
- ACLS and Medical-Surgical national certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years Med-Surg/Tele experience; first-time travelers are welcome
- Proficiency in: trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucomander, drips (insulin, heparin), wound care, telemetry monitoring, and interdisciplinary coordination
- Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills, especially related to renal/fluid management
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to a full census of 20 med-surg/telemetry patients (typical RN ratio 1:46)
- Conduct patient assessments, provide wound care, manage lines and tubes, titrate drips (to heart rate), and interpret cardiac telemetry
- Coordinate with physicians, CNAs, discharge nurses, lab, and respiratory therapy for comprehensive care
- Engage actively in discharge planning and patient/family education
- Float to other adult med-surg/tele units as needed
