Advance your nursing career in a dynamic, high-acuity environment supporting a renowned teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation and specialized centers for chest pain and stroke care. This contract opportunity seeks an experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN to deliver top-tier patient care with the flexibility to float across all Med/Tele units as needed.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7AM7PM or 7PM7AM
- Scheduling follows a 6-week cycle
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 shifts per 12, per cycle
- Holiday coverage: one shift per major holiday (Thanksgiving/Day After, December 24 or 25, December 31 or January 1)
- No call requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg & Telemetry RN experience
- BLS required; ACLS preferred (must pass EKG competency during onboarding)
- Med/Surg certification is a plus
- Telemetry skills: cardiac rhythm monitoring & interpretation, post-cath/TR band/groin site care
- Drip management: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, nicardipine
- Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts/maintenance, glucommander use
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, time management, and interdisciplinary coordination skills
- Discharge planning and patient education experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct inpatient Med/Surg and Tele care for patients with varied acute and chronic diagnoses
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; manage post-cath patients
- Safely titrate and administer IV drips as ordered (per protocol)
- Collaborate with CNAs, resource nurses, charge nurses, unit secretaries, and other support staff
- Draw labs from CVLs as needed; document in EPIC EMR
