Job Description
Deliver outstanding patient care in a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry environment at a top-tier teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, stroke, and chest pain center designations. This contract position provides the opportunity to care for a broad spectrum of patients with complex conditions, utilizing cutting-edge technology and strong interdisciplinary support.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A7P or 7P7A
- Six-week scheduling cycle
- Weekend rotation: 56 shifts per 12 scheduled
- Holiday rotation required: one shift for each major holiday
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Med/Surg Tele environment
- BLS certification (required); ACLS preferred (or willingness to obtain during onboarding)
- Strong assessment and time management skills with proven experience in care coordination and patient education
- Telemetry proficiency: cardiac rhythm monitoring, post-cath care, TR band/groin site management
- Medication/drip management skills: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, nicardipine
- Skilled with PIV starts, trach care, chest tube management, and glucommander
- Comfort floating to all Med/Tele units
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, assess, and provide care for patients with diverse acute and chronic conditions, including both medical and post-surgical cases
- Collaborate closely with CNAs, unit secretaries, discharge nurses, and physicians for optimal patient outcomes
- Accurately interpret cardiac rhythms and manage a range of drips
- Educate patients and families, discharge planning, and coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members
- Adhere to facility protocols, including safe documentation using EPIC, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis med dispensing
