Job Description

A nursing professional opportunity is available in Champaign, IL, focusing on orthopedic and medical/surgical patient care. This contract role requires a responsible and skilled RN-MS to deliver evidence-based nursing practice, ensuring each patient receives comprehensive and compassionate care tailored to their individual needs.

Responsibilities include performing thorough initial patient assessments upon admission and developing patient-centered plans of care aligned with unit standards. The nurse will continuously evaluate and modify care plans, administer nursing interventions, and manage patient procedures with precision. A key component of the role involves educating patients on wound care, medication management, self-care techniques, and mobility, particularly for those recovering from orthopedic surgeries.

Additional duties include assessing patients every shift, collaborating closely with physicians and surgeons to coordinate care, and delegating interventions to healthcare team members while ensuring the quality and safety of care delivered. The role also involves setting up orthopedic traction devices and managing various wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, and urological devices, demonstrating advanced clinical skills.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a Masters degree preferred (RN-MS).
  • Experience in orthopedic and medical/surgical nursing care.
  • Strong assessment, clinical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex wound care and surgical traction devices.
  • Proven ability to educate and collaborate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
