Job Description

Deliver expert care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients in a dynamic, high-acuity environment. This contract opportunity offers the chance to provide comprehensive RN-level support to patients with kidney disease, post-op urology or renal surgeries, and a full range of med-surg comorbidities. As a valued team member, youll contribute to interdisciplinary care, high standards of safety, and patient education.

Shift Schedules:

  • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM7:00 PM or 7:00 PM7:00 AM
  • Weekend rotation: 56 weekend shifts per every 6-week schedule
  • No on-call required
  • Holiday coverage includes one shift for each major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)

Required Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg experience
  • BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required
  • ACLS preferred
  • National certification (Medical-Surgical or Nephrology Nursing) preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills
  • Ability to interpret telemetry, initiate/monitor drips, insert/care for IVs, and perform wound/post-op care
  • Experience or readiness to train in peritoneal dialysis

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute/chronic renal conditions
  • Coordinate care for patients recovering from renal/urology surgeries
  • Administer and titrate medications and drips as directed
  • Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, unit secretaries, and other support staff
  • Perform discharge teaching, especially for renal and fluid management
  • Utilize EPIC EMR and advanced monitoring equipment

Department Support:

  • CNA and multidisciplinary staff assistance
  • 24/7 access to respiratory therapists, hospitalists, intensivists
  • Dedicated central telemetry monitoring
  • Free parking available on campus; navy scrubs for RN staff
