Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Registered Nurse in a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry unit within a leading teaching hospital renowned for its 637 licensed beds, Level 1 Trauma status, and specialized stroke and chest pain centers. This role requires the ability to provide exceptional care to a varied patient population, including individuals recovering from strokes, brain injuries, surgeries, and those managing chronic and acute medical conditions.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call requirement
- Holiday coverage includes one major holiday shift per cycle
Qualifications:
- Current RN license with a minimum of 2 years medical-surgical experience
- BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm certifications required; ACLS and Med-Surg national certification preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills for high-acuity, trauma-level care
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucomander, and titratable drips (HR based)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care including IV insertion, central line management, wound and post-op care, and cardiac telemetry interpretation
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care and participate in discharge planning/education, with an emphasis on renal and fluid management
- Manage patient assignments of 1:4-6, supported by CNAs, charge nurses, and a resource/discharge team
- Navigate advanced technologies and chart via EPIC EMR, with equipment such as Alaris pumps and wireless telemetry
Support & Resources:
- 24/7 access to respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists
- Centralized telemetry unit, dedicated transport team, and on-unit secretarial support
