Job Description
Deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a dynamic, Level 1 Trauma setting within a hospital renowned for its teaching, cardiac care, and comprehensive stroke services. This contract opportunity offers hands-on experience caring for a diverse population of med-surg and telemetry patients, including complex cardiac and step-down ICU cases.
Schedule & Hours
- 12-hour shifts (7A7P or 7P7A)
- 6-week scheduling cycle
- Weekend rotation required: 56 shifts per 12, per cycle
- No call requirement
- Holiday shift rotation included
Qualifications & Experience
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry experience
- BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG test required during onboarding)
- ACLS and Med-Surg certifications preferred, but not required
- Strong med-surg assessment skills in a Level 1 Trauma environment
- Experienced with trach care, chest tube management, IV starts, insulin and heparin drips, and telemetry
- Coordinated care planning, patient education on renal/fluid management, and wound care expertise
- First-time travelers are welcome
Key Responsibilities
- Care for pre- and post-cardiac patients, CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis cases, and related diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:46; supported by CNAs, resource nurses, 24/7 respiratory therapists, and hospitalists
- Accurate assessment, monitoring, and timely interventions using EPIC, Phillips monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, and Alaris IV pumps
- Documentation and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
- Active participation in patient/family education and discharge planning
