Advance your nursing career with a dynamic contract opportunity focused on delivering high-quality patient care in a robust Med/Surg Telemetry environment. This role supports a busy, team-oriented setting, serving diverse adult populationsfrom acute and chronic disease management to post-surgical recovery and cardiac monitoring. Candidates will play a vital part within a teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation and specialized centers for stroke and chest pain.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call
- Major holiday coverage required (one shift each: Thanksgiving period, Christmas Eve/Day, New Years Eve/Day)
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN license with at least 2 years Med/Surg Tele experience
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred (must complete EKG competency upon onboarding)
- Strong skills in assessment, time management, interdisciplinary care coordination, and patient education
- Telemetry skills: cardiac rhythm monitoring/interpretation, post-cath care, TR bands, groin site management
- Experience with drips: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, nicardipine
- Proficient with trach care, chest tubes, PIV starts/maintenance, glucommander, and discharge planning
- EPIC EMR experience beneficial
- Certification in Med/Surg Nursing a plus; first-time travelers welcome
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee care for patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac needs in units with 20-36 beds
- Manage patient ratios of 1:4-6 RNs, with robust support from CNAs and dedicated resource staff
- Float as needed to all Med/Surg Telemetry units throughout the facility
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist support
- Participate in a comprehensive orientation, ensuring knowledge of unit protocols and expectations
