Job Description
Deliver outstanding care within a dynamic Medical-Surgical/Telemetry setting dedicated to a broad spectrum of adult inpatient needs. This contract opportunity emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and hands-on patient management in a fast-paced teaching hospital.
Schedule/Hours:
- Shifts vary; details provided during application process
- Floating to all Med/Tele units as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Tele nursing experience
- BLS certification required
- ACLS preferred (must pass EKG competency upon onboarding)
- Proficient in management of cardiac drips, including insulin and heparin drips
- Comfort with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use
- Med Surg certification is a plus
- Open to first-time travelers with required expertise
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive inpatient care to MedSurg/Telemetry patients with diverse diagnoses
- Manage patient ratios of 1:4-6 in collaboration with LPNs and CNAs
- Initiate and titrate cardiac drips as clinically indicated
- Perform bedside procedures: trach care, chest tube maintenance, glucose monitoring, PIV starts
- Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary support team including CNAs, secretaries, phlebotomists, and advanced practitioners
- Accurately document patient care in the EPIC EMR
- Float to various Med/Tele units as directed to meet patient needs across the hospital
Departmental Support and Resources:
- Charge nurse coverage
- Discharge and resource RN teams
- 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and central telemetry support
- Advanced medical equipment, including Alaris pumps, Philips monitors, Pyxis med cabinets
