Job Description

Deliver exceptional nursing care as part of a dynamic Medical-Surgical team. This role supports a busy inpatient neuro-medical-surgical unit for a 13-week contract, focusing on post-trauma, post-surgical, and complex medical patients. The night shift schedule is 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, with guaranteed hours of 36 or 48 per week as agreed upon. Every other weekend may be required, with no on-call expectations. Orientation is held during day shifts and full attendance for the entire week is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the nursing process in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for a diverse patient population.
  • Collaborate with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort.
  • Maintain professional accountability for all aspects of direct patient care.
  • Oversee and evaluate care provided by other healthcare staff.
  • Uphold patient rights, confidentiality, and safety standards at all times.
  • Maintain compliance with established protocols, Nurse Practice Act, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Flexibly float to similar or lower acuity units as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license eligible for or issued by Missouri.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent acute inpatient Medical-Surgical experience required.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • ACLS certification from AHA preferred.
  • Experience with neuro patients preferred.
  • Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records system is a plus.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with patient mobility; must meet specific physical demands, including the ability to lift and turn patients with assistance.
