Job Description

An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with orthopedic expertise to support patient care on the orthopedic floor of a respected hospital in the greater St. Louis area. This contract role offers flexible guaranteed hours (36 or 48 per week) on the night shift (7:00 PM 7:30 AM), providing a rewarding and dynamic environment to advance your nursing career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate patient care activities collaboratively with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort.
  • Uphold patient rights and confidentiality while adhering to nursing practice standards and facility protocols.
  • Maintain professional accountability and evaluate the effectiveness of care provided.
  • Assist in patient mobility and manage physical demands associated with orthopedic care.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Registered Nurse license eligible or currently licensed in Missouri.
  • Minimum of 2 years inpatient orthopedic nursing experience.
  • Certification in BLS (AHA required); ACLS certification preferred.
  • Ability to work night shifts with occasional weekends and float to similar or lower acuity units as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • 30-bed orthopedic unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
  • Use of EPIC EMR system.
  • Physically active role requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting patients.
  • Compliance with flu vaccination requirements during November to April.
