An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with Neuro ICU expertise to deliver specialized care in a dynamic, 19-bed Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit. This role involves caring for patients experiencing acute neurological events such as stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhages, seizures, and those recovering from neurosurgical interventions. The unit is equipped for advanced monitoring, including invasive intracranial pressure and hemodynamic assessment, and handles frequent diagnostic procedures like CT, MRI, and Angiography.
Schedule:
- Straight weekend block: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Neuro ICU nursing experience required
- Experience with invasive intracranial and hemodynamic monitoring
- Comfortable with frequent neurological assessments and rapid changes in patient status
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to adapt to patient needs and float to other ICUs or step-down units as needed
- BLS and ACLS certifications (active and up to date)
- Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert care to critically ill neuro patients, including continual monitoring and timely interventions
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and respond swiftly to any changes
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary care team to develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans
- Safely administer medications and treatments according to protocols
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation and communication regarding patient care
- Manage a patient assignment of 2-3 patients per shift
