A hospital in Los Fresnos, TX, is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for a contract position in a high-acuity setting. This role supports a well-staffed 22-bed Emergency Department with a patient ratio of 4:1, focused on delivering exceptional and efficient patient care.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of recent Emergency Department experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; TNCC preferred
- Strong triage and critical thinking skills, with trauma and cardiac alert experience, including managing STEMI, stroke, and sepsis patients
- Preferred: Experience with Meditech EMR documentation system and bilingual (English/Spanish) skills
Responsibilities:
- Perform IV insertions, medication administration, EKGs, splinting, and wound care
- Administer moderate sedation for procedures such as reductions or cardioversion
- Assist with intubation, CPR, rapid sequence intubation, and respond to codes
- Care for patients with stroke, STEMI, sepsis, trauma, and behavioral health needs
- Coordinate transport preparation for higher levels of care
- Conduct triage assessments and prioritize care based on ESI guidelines
- Implement isolation and infection control protocols
- Accurately document and reassess patients in a fast-paced environment
Schedule:
- 2 weekends per schedule required; no on-call shifts needed
- Flexible shifts covering day and night rotations with dedicated charge nurses and ER tech support
