A nursing opportunity is available for a registered nurse with expertise in emergency care, located in Los Fresnos, TX. This contract role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced emergency department that serves a diverse patient population requiring high-acuity care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform triage assessments and prioritize patient care following Emergency Severity Index (ESI) guidelines.
- Provide care for trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and behavioral health patients.
- Execute procedures such as IV insertion, medication administration, EKGs, splinting, wound care, and moderate sedation for reductions or cardioversion.
- Assist with intubation, CPR, rapid sequence intubation, and code response.
- Prepare and coordinate transport for patients needing higher levels of care.
- Maintain documentation and reassessment in a Meditech electronic medical record system.
- Follow isolation and infection control protocols ensuring patient and staff safety.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years recent experience in a high-acuity Emergency Department setting.
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
- Proficiency in trauma and cardiac alert scenarios.
- Strong triage and critical thinking skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
- Meditech documentation experience is advantageous.
Schedule:
- Day and night shifts available.
- Requires availability for approximately 2 weekends per schedule.
- No on-call responsibilities.
