A nursing role is available in an urgent care setting where timely, compassionate, and evidence-based care is provided to patients of all ages. This position involves working collaboratively within a nursing team to conduct full assessments, prioritize patient flow, perform clinical skills, and coordinate care according to provider orders. Critical thinking within standing orders is essential to expedite patient services efficiently. Flexibility to cover other nursing roles in the department may be required to maintain smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial triage and comprehensive assessments for urgent care patients.
- Provide telephone nursing services, offering assessments and appropriate self-care advice.
- Administer medications and therapeutic measures, including IV therapy initiation and maintenance.
- Accurately document assessments, nursing interventions, and patient education.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment with adequate supplies, following infection control protocols.
- Coordinate patient referrals and track outcomes, collaborating with case managers and other providers.
- Participate in emergency response, vaccine coordination, and clinical team development.
- Communicate professionally with multidisciplinary teams and patients in diverse settings.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program eligible for NCLEX.
- Current unrestricted RN license from Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska license application required prior to start if direct hire).
- Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience, with at least 1 year in urgent care or ambulatory settings.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week with rotating day and weekend shifts.
