This opportunity is for a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in cardiovascular and electrophysiology care within the catheterization (Cath) lab setting. The role involves delivering expert nursing care during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular, electrophysiology, and neuro-interventional procedures. Candidates with experience in ICU, CVICU, or Intermediate Care (IMC) units who have demonstrated proficiency in acute cardiac care environments will find this position a compelling match. New graduates and those solely with medical-surgical experience are not considered at this time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare procedure rooms and patients ensuring safety and readiness for complex cardiovascular and electrophysiology interventions.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures including cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology studies, pacemaker and defibrillator placements, structural heart procedures like TAVR and LAAO, and interventional neurology procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs, conduct pre- and post-procedure assessments, and promptly communicate findings to medical teams.
- Document care and procedure details accurately in electronic medical systems.
- Administer procedural sedation following protocol.
- Participate in safety protocols such as Time-Outs and ensure compliance with hospital policy.
- Support professional development by assisting in onboarding new staff and engaging in ongoing education and certifications.
Qualifications:
- Nursing degree required; Bachelors preferred or commitment to obtain within 36 months.
- Valid Registered Nurse license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- ICU, CVICU, IMC, or cardiovascular cath lab experience required.
- Experience with cardiovascular and electrophysiology lab procedures highly desirable.
