Job Description
Experienced registered nurses with a background in cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) procedures are invited to apply for a contract opportunity within a dynamic surgical department. This department features 11 operating rooms and a dedicated cysto room, supported by a committed staff including circulators, surgical techs, nurse techs, anesthesia techs, and unit clerks. The typical patient ratio is 1:1, ensuring focused, high-quality care during specialized cardiovascular procedures.
Schedule and Call Requirements:
- No overnight shifts
- Call requirements are Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm to 7:00 am
- Call rotation will transition to every other day and every other weekend once staffed with a second RN
Qualifications:
- Current RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in cardiovascular surgery
- Proven experience with both on-pump and off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- CVOR and vascular surgery background highly desired
- Proficiency in Meditech electronic medical records is preferred
- Strong teamwork and a hardworking, adaptable attitude
Key Responsibilities:
- Circulate and assist in cardiovascular surgeries including off-pump/on-pump CABG, vascular bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and infection control standards
- Collaborate closely with surgeons and the surgical team to achieve optimal surgical outcomes
- Maintain accurate, thorough documentation using Meditech EMR
- Respond effectively to emergent situations with rapid assessment and critical thinking
