A specialized nursing opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses skilled in cardiovascular pediatric intensive care. This contract position offers the chance to contribute your expertise within a renowned Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care unit recognized nationally for exceptional patient outcomes.
Location:
Summerville, SC a charming city known for its Southern hospitality, historic downtown, and close proximity to natural attractions and urban amenities. This inviting location balances small-town warmth with access to cultural events, parks, and quality healthcare facilities.
Shift/Hours:
- Night shifts: 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM 7:30 AM)
- Weekend scheduling requirement: 4 weekends every 4 weeks
- Holiday rotation included
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years pediatric cardiac ICU experience
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications (American Heart Association accepted only)
- Experience with Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) preferred
- ACLS certification highly preferred (American Heart Association accepted only)
- Willingness to float within unit scope to meet departmental needs
- First-time pediatric cardiac ICU nurses are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care to pediatric patients with congenital heart disease in a 29-bed, Gold Beacon Award-winning unit
- Manage complex therapies including ventilatory and cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, and post-operative cardiac care
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2, depending on acuity
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapists, dietitians, and pharmacists
- Use EPIC charting software to document patient care accurately
Additional Details:
- This position is contract-based with guaranteed hours, though travelers may be cancelled one shift every two weeks
- Local nurses within a 60-mile radius are welcome to apply
- Parking permit required with a nominal registration fee
- The unit is part of a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- No travel pairs allowed for this assignment
