A specialized opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse experienced in Cardiovascular Intensive Care. This contract role supports critical patient care in a high-acuity CVICU setting in Schertz, TX.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Texas RN license (no temporary licenses accepted)
- Minimum of 2 years ICU experience with proven competency in critical care nursing
- Proficient in hemodynamic monitoring including swans and arterial lines
- Ventilator management skills with strong critical thinking ability
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH required
- Preferred: Exposure to IABP, CRRT, and familiarity with Meditech documentation/charting systems
Work Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts, either 7:00 AM 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
- Rotating weekends
- No on-call requirements
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Assignment length: 13 to 26 weeks
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized nursing care to post-CABG, VAD, and post-cardiac catheterization patients with advanced cardiac support devices such as IABP, Impella, and ECMO
- Maintain meticulous documentation and adherence to hospital protocols in a fast-paced critical care environment
- Float according to facility policy to support unit needs
Dress Code and Professional Conduct:
- Navy scrub tops and pants with navy or white jackets
- Adherence to grooming policies, including neat hair, covered tattoos when possible, and restricted visible piercings
- Timely clock-in/out with a mandatory 30-minute lunch period
