Job Description

A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced RN in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) on a contract basis. This role is based in Cibolo, TX, and involves working within a dynamic unit known for advanced cardiac care and patient-centered services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical care nursing for post-operative cardiac patients, including those recovering from CABG, VAD implantation, and cath lab procedures involving cardiac support devices like IABP, Impella, and ECMO.
  • Perform and monitor advanced hemodynamic assessments, including Swan-Ganz catheter and arterial line management.
  • Manage ventilators and deliver comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill patients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Adhere strictly to hospital policies including attendance, dress code, and floating requirements within the facility.
  • Document patient care accurately utilizing Meditech or similar electronic health record systems.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Texas RN license (no temporary licenses accepted).
  • Minimum of two years of ICU experience, preferably in a CVICU setting.
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
  • Expertise in hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification required.
  • Preferred exposure to IABP and CRRT.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Meditech charting and order entry is advantageous.

Contract Details:

  • Shift options include 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with rotating weekends.

  • Floating is required as per hospital policy.
