An exceptional opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Cardiovascular and Pediatric critical care experience to join a nationally recognized Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit. This contract position offers a challenging and rewarding environment where skilled professionals provide care to pediatric patients with complex cardiac conditions in a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
Location:
Situated in Charleston, South Carolina, this facility is a leading referral center for pediatric cardiac surgery in the region. Charleston is a vibrant coastal city known for its rich history, charming architecture, and welcoming community, offering a high quality of life with plenty of cultural and outdoor activities.
Schedule:
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM 7:30 AM)
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekends every 4 weeks
- Holiday rotation required
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert nursing care in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiology ICU serving patients with congenital heart disease and complex cardiac needs
- Manage ventilatory support, cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, and advanced therapies including VAD and heart transplant care
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Pharmacists, and Dietitians
- Maintain close patient monitoring with 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity
- Utilize the EPIC charting system to document care
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric cardiac intensive care experience required
- Valid RN license for South Carolina or multi-state compact license
- Certifications: PALS and BLS (American Heart Association preferred), ACLS highly desirable
- Experience with Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) highly preferred but not required
- First-time pediatric cardiac ICU nurses are welcome to apply
- Willingness to float within scope to meet unit needs

- Parking available with a permit at a nominal fee
- Contract position with potential cancellation of up to one shift every two weeks
- No travel pairs accepted
