Job Description

Job Title: K-8 School Social Worker
Location: St. Paul, Minnesota
Are you a passionate and dedicated social worker looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of K-8 students? Our St. Paul-based K-8 school is seeking an experienced School Social Worker to join our team. As a School Social Worker, you will play a critical role in providing support, counseling, and resources to students, families, and staff within our diverse school community.
Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and address the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to help students develop coping strategies, improve social skills, and overcome personal challenges.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to students facing difficult situations, including trauma, family issues, or other crises.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of intervention plans for students with special needs.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school climate through the implementation of social-emotional learning programs and activities.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students in need of social work services and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Valid licensure as a School Social Worker in the state of Minnesota.
  • Experience working as a social worker in an educational setting, preferably with K-8 students.
  • Knowledge of child development, mental health issues, and effective counseling techniques.
  • Familiarity with the Minnesota Department of Education's rules and regulations regarding special education services.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
