Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized ultrasound exams for patients of all ages, ensuring image quality and diagnostic accuracy.
- Independently adjust procedures to meet specific diagnostic requirements per radiologist guidance.
- Prepare patients for exams, obtain patient histories, and explain procedures to patients and families.
- Utilize color imaging to assess abdominal arterial and venous systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper function and cleanliness.
- Assist radiologists during biopsies and set up sterile trays.
- Order labs and pathology tests as directed by radiologists.
- Document all procedures and image findings accurately and enter patient data into hospital information systems promptly.
- Contribute to quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement programs.
- Support training and mentorship of fellow technologists and students, fostering a respectful learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven competency in general ultrasound imaging techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to adapt procedures independently and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Strong communication skills for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Prior experience assisting with biopsies and lab orders preferred.
