Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students across Colorado. This fully remote position is designed for a compassionate and skilled educator who is adept at using virtual platforms to deliver accessible and effective educational content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Delivery: Provide individualized instruction and support tailored to the specific needs of visually impaired students, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to determine students' educational needs and progress. Utilize findings to adjust instructional methods and materials.
  • Development of Learning Materials: Create and adapt learning materials and resources to meet the visual needs of students, incorporating assistive technology as necessary.
  • Collaboration with School Staff: Work closely with other educational professionals, including special educators, orientation and mobility specialists, and general education teachers, to support students' educational journeys.
  • Family Engagement: Maintain regular communication with families to provide updates on student progress and offer strategies for supporting learning at home.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional learning to stay updated on the latest advancements in teaching visually impaired students and in remote education technologies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education with a specialization in Visual Impairments.
  • Certification: Must hold a current Colorado teaching license with an endorsement in teaching visually impaired students or be eligible for licensure.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working as a TVI, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience delivering instruction remotely.
  • Skills: Proficient in the use of assistive technologies and digital educational platforms, excellent communication skills, and adept at creating accessible educational content.
  • Personal Qualities: Empathetic, patient, and innovative, with a commitment to enhancing educational accessibility and outcomes for visually impaired students.

Work Environment

  • This position is entirely remote, requiring a professional home office setup suitable for conducting live virtual classes and meetings.
  • Flexible scheduling may be necessary to accommodate the needs of students in different time zones.
