Epidemiologist III for Data Sharing

Sunbelt is hiring a contract Epidemiologist III for the Data Sharing Unit for the COVID-19 Response in Chicago, IL. The position will develop and maintain processes for sharing data visualizations and analyses with external stakeholders, including through the website and Data Portal. If you have at least four years of Epidemiology experience, you are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Public Health, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or a directly related field, plus four years of experience performing epidemiological and statistical analysis work.

Employment Type: 26 Weeks

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8-5, 35 Hours per week

 

Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, performs advanced analyses of epidemiological data; recommends and evaluates intervention measures for the cause and control of diseases and events affecting population health in Chicago area. Performs related duties as required.
  • Designs surveys and other data collection tools for the collection of epidemiological data including web-based and field-based data collection methods.
  • Analyzes programmatic, health surveillance and behavioral survey data to track the cause, effect, and course of outbreaks or patterns of disease and health (e.g., prevalence, incidence, time trends, associated risk factors); may work with syndromic surveillance data or other real-time data (e.g. 911, electronic reporting, or lot data).
  • Uses various software programs (e.g., SAS, R,) to generate complex data summaries, tables, charts, and graphic displays or to perform difficult manipulation of large, complex, relational datasets; familiarity with predictive analytic models or other multivariate data analyses.
  • Uses various software programs (e.g. ArcGIS, Leaflet) to create geographic displays of information and perform geospatial analyses.
  • Uses various software programs and platforms (Tableau,D3.js, Google Charts, etc.) to create interactive data visualizations.
  • Disseminates findings, both internally and externally, of data analyses through written reports, oral presentations, and research articles.
  • Leads or participates in field outbreak investigations; develops and formulates procedures for validating the integrity of data and establishing and modifying databases; responds to requests for epidemiological data as required.
  • Evaluates disease intervention programs and recommends program changes to reduce incidence of morbidity and mortality.
  • Works with City departments and healthcare and emergency preparedness partners to create and share data on health-related issues.
