This is a level two facility that houses approximately 1,150 male offenders. The prison opened in 1993 and participates in the Virginia Correctional Enterprise program, employing inmates in clothing production. This facility also serves as a intake, reception and classification center, and is responsible for processing inmates. During intake, inmates are assessed, a full criminal history is taken, and the inmate's custody level is determined. The offender is then assigned a permanent facility with programs and a security level that will best accommodate the inmate's rehabilitative needs.
Corrections Nurses provide care to inmate patients to promote & improve their overall health utilizing the nursing process in triage, professional training and various resources in accordance with regulatory agencies and established guidelines. The inmate patient population generally has not had consistent access to healthcare prior to their incarceration. This provides an opportunity for nurses to see and care for an interesting variety of health concerns from minor ailments to major and atypical conditions.
- Active VA Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact
- Active BLS/ACLS (AHA)
- Ability to pass drug screening and background check
- Will accept new grads!
- 8 Week Assignment
- Full-Time/36 hours per week
- Night shift/12 hour shifts/8p-8a
