Job Description
A specialized role is available for an Assistive Technology Specialist supporting K-12 students with diverse needs in a school setting located in Norco, CA. This contract position spans the current school year, offering a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week over 5 days. The specialist will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), Special Education Teachers, and Occupational Therapists to implement and support assistive technology solutions that enhance student learning and communication.
Key qualifications and skills include:
- Assistive Technology Certification is required
- Experience or certification in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) or Special Education preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators and therapists within an inclusive school environment
- Familiarity with assistive devices and software tailored to students with disabilities
- Strong communication skills to support students, families, and staff
Typical responsibilities include:
- Assessing student needs for assistive technology
- Providing training and support for students and staff on assistive devices
- Collaborating on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to incorporate technology solutions
- Monitoring and modifying technology use to maximize student engagement and performance
- Maintaining detailed documentation and compliance with educational standards
