Job Title: American Sign Language (ASL) Paraeducator - Redlands, CA

Location: Redlands, CA

Position Type: Full-time, On-site

Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated American Sign Language (ASL) Paraeducator to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year in Redlands, CA. As an ASL Paraeducator, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they have equal access to educational opportunities and fostering their academic and social growth.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, assisting them in understanding classroom instruction and materials.
Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers using American Sign Language (ASL) and other appropriate communication strategies.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and other educational professionals to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students.
Adapt instructional materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of students with hearing impairments.
Assist students with accessing assistive technology devices and resources as needed.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic and social development of all students.
Support students during transitions between classes, activities, and locations within the school environment.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interactions with students, staff, and families.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
Previous experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students, staff, and families.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the educational success of students with hearing impairments.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the changing needs of students and classrooms.
High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional education or training in ASL or special education is a plus.
