Western Maryland’s largest city, Hagerstown, Maryland, offers an abundance of outdoor fun and adventure.  With a plethora of parks, golf courses and trails to choose from, along with biking, hiking, whitewater rafting, upscale shopping, restaurants and museums, there is always something to do.  If you enjoy hiking, horseback riding, boating and fishing, check out the Ohio Canal Towpath or the Appalachian Trail, both extend beyond the borders of Maryland.

For the history buffs, take an afternoon to visit the Hager House, located in City Park.  Built in 1739 by the city founder, Jonathan Hager, the house is styled in German tradition.  Or, stop by the Museum of Fine Arts, which has earned the accreditation of the American Association of Museums.

With low, rolling hills and rich, fertile land, Hagerstown has hot, humid summers and moderately cold winters.  But, no matter what the weather is outside you will still be tempted to visit the Prime Outlets Hagerstown, a 100 plus store outlet mall and a main attraction for shopping enthusiasts.

There are many fun events in Hagerstown, from the Western Maryland Blues Fest, beginning in May, to Augustoberfest, which celebrates the town’s German heritage.  But, you don’t want to miss out on the Alsatia Mummers’ Parade, the largest nighttime Halloween parade on the East Coast.
